Here, you’ll find our personal experiences as residents of the North Shore. We write our own insights and recommendations and shoot all of our own photos and videos.
Our main goal is to help visitors experience the North Shore of Oahu with confidence so that everyone has a fun, safe, and worry-free time. We write all of our posts with that in mind.

We aim to be your go-to travel resource, sharing everything we know about the area to help you plan your vacation and have the best time.
Our vision goes beyond that! We also want to connect visitors with local businesses and the community!
We want to answer your questions, give you all the details you need, our local point of view, and chat about your experience while traveling to the North Shore.
Who we are
We are Adriana and Chuck, a married couple living on Oahu's North Shore for nearly 30 years.
We both love to surf, travel, and shoot photos and videos, and that's why we chose Haleiwa as our home.
Here’s a bit more about each of us
Adriana

Hawaii first captured my heart at 15, when I competed in pro bodyboarding events on the North Shore as a Brazilian teenager. This love affair with the island drew me to move here and make it my permanent home in 1997.
After diving deep into marine science with a degree from Hawaii Pacific University, I spent a decade as a University of Hawaii oceanographer. At the same time, in 2004, I created HaleiwaTown.com from my passion for web development and the North Shore. But my food blog, LivingHealthyWithChocolate, took off, and for a few years, HaleiwaTown.com and my oceanography career took a backseat.
Now, as a resident of the North Shore for over 20 years and with a diverse skillset in content marketing, SEO, web development and design, food photography, and video production, I'm back actively creating the best travel resources for visitors on HaleiwaTown.com and managing all aspects of the site. March 18, 2024, was the launch of the revamped website (finally 😊), and I'm excited for what's to come and to connect with visitors.
When I'm not glued to the computer screen or baking, you'll find me with my husband Chuck – bodyboarding, surfing, or kitesurfing – or exploring new surf breaks around the world!

Like my wife Adriana, I fell under the spell of surfing and the North Shore back in 1996. Originally from Central Florida, the North Shore has been my home ever since.
Surfing and photography are two of my greatest passions, and I'm the guy behind the lens for all the photos you see on HaleiwaTown.com!
My photography has been featured digitally and in magazines worldwide, and now, through HaleiwaTown.com, I get to share the North Shore's beauty with visitors.
When I'm not snapping photos or helping people find their dream piece of Hawaii real estate (my day job), you'll find me out there with Adriana chasing waves – surfing, kitesurfing, exploring new locations across the globe, or hanging with our pets (3 dogs and a cat).
Why we started HaleiwaTown
HaleiwaTown.com was founded by us in 2004. Since then, we wanted to provide valuable resources to help visitors plan their vacation and discover the beauty of this part of the island.
We started HaleiwaTown.com to be the go-to guide and trusted resource for visitors of Haleiwa Town and the North Shore of Oahu.
Our goal has always been to provide travelers with information while fostering connections between visitors and local businesses, supporting the community, and promoting economic growth.
Additionally, we wanted to emphasize conservation practices to protect the environment and remind everyone about the importance of taking care of the island’s natural beauty and respecting local cultures and customs.
